Woodmont Child Development Center (WCDC) is housed within Woodmont United Methodist Church and has been in operation since June 1, 1990. With the last assessment by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education, it received a 5-star rating. Each of the previous assessments provided a 4-star rating. Ratings are based upon two areas of assessment: (1) Program Standards, and (2) Staff Education. An additional quality point is awarded on the basis of enhanced standards in programming and staff education. The entire staff is certified in First Aid, CPR, SIDS, and Conscious Discipline.
WCDC was established as a benefit for Annie Penn/Cone Health System employees. Employees of the Cone Health System are given first priority for available slots, siblings of children already enrolled are given second priority, members of Woodmont United Methodist Church receive third priority, and any remaining slots are available to the public. The center operates on a full roster year-round.WCDC maintains a waitlist for all available slots. The waitlist application is available below. Completing the application automatically places the child(ren) on the waitlist. Should a spot become available, a staff member will contact the parent/guardian with more information about enrollment procedures and requirements.
The Center has 67 children enrolled and 11 staff members. The ages of the children are 6 weeks to 5 years for the full-time program, and 5 years to 12 years for before- and after-school care. For those children enrolled in the before- and after-school care program, full-time care is available during the Summer, on teacher workdays, and on snow days.
